We are very happy, proud, and honored to announce that we welcome the DMET-MERI Ex-Cadet Association (DMECA, HQ Mumbai) in partnering with DMET Club to explore synergies in the mission of giving back to alumni and our alma mater.
DMECA is a 25-year-old alumni association, working since 1999.
We promise to provide them with the technological backing to elevate their impact to new heights through this partnership.
हम साथ चले तो जीतेंगे
हाथ में हाथ चले तो जीतेंगे
The DMET-MERI Ex-Cadets Association (DMECA), headquartered in Mumbai, was established in 1999 with the sole purpose of giving back to its alma mater. DMECA actively supports the DMET-MERI campuses by sponsoring essential equipment, such as life rafts and water coolers, and facilitating the transfer of significant machinery like the Boiler Simulator from Dubai to Kolkata. The association organizes technical seminars and lecture programs featuring industry experts to broaden cadets' horizons and inspire their career aspirations.
Additionally, DMECA has instituted annual prizes for outstanding technical papers and models, publishes the annual 'Gauge Glass' magazine, and hosts an annual get-together event in Mumbai.
They also provide financial aid through a benevolent fund and assist with cadet placements. Alumni are encouraged to contribute through various means, including donations, advertising, and offering employment opportunities, thereby fostering a strong and supportive network for future generations.
Recently, DMECA provided two life rafts to the IMU campus in Kolkata and installed ten water coolers in the Kolkata campus hostel and two in the IMU Mumbai Campus girls hostel. We are currently in the process of supplying crucial equipment for the workshop at the Kolkata Campus. Additionally, DMECA ensured full logistic support for transferring an Alfa Laval Boiler Simulator from Dubai to Kolkata Campus, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing the facilities at our alma mater.
DMECA has been dedicated to organizing technical seminars on topics of interest. An upcoming seminar is planned in Mumbai in July 2024, which promises to be an engaging and informative event. Furthermore, we collaborate with OEMs, organizations, motivational speakers, and distinguished alumni to deliver lectures that broaden the horizons of young cadets and inspire them to achieve great heights in their careers.
To encourage academic excellence, DMECA has instituted an annual prize for the best technical papers and models at the Kolkata Campus. We also encourage alumni to institute prizes or scholarships in memory of loved ones. Our annual magazine, ‘Gauge Glass,’ relaunched on the 65th Anniversary of our Alma Mater, continues to be a great success, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and celebrating achievements.
Our annual get-together in Mumbai attracts nearly 500+ guests and offers a fantastic opportunity for alumni to reconnect and network. In addition to social events, DMECA is committed to providing financial aid to cadets in distress through our Benevolent Fund. Significant sums have been collected and disbursed to support deserving cadets, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed.
DMECA assists cadets with placements, particularly during times of recession. By leveraging our extensive network, we help young graduates find employment opportunities at sea or onshore, ensuring they have a strong start in their professional lives.
DMECA also plays a crucial role in providing mentorship and guidance to cadets and recent graduates. Experienced alumni offer their time and expertise to mentor young cadets, providing invaluable advice on navigating their careers in the maritime industry. This mentorship helps bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, ensuring that cadets are well-prepared for the challenges they will face in their professional lives.
Support our core activities. One alumnus contributed ₹400,000. Your financial contributions can make a significant difference.

Provide employment opportunities for cadets at sea or onshore.
Share your company’s technology or products through lectures. By educating cadets on the latest advancements, you prepare them for the future of the maritime industry.

Help organise events and initiatives to ensure successful seminars, workshops, and activities for cadets and alumni.
